Apologies for the Server Outage that took the Forum down yesterday. Not a lot I could do as it was a total Data Centre Outage.

Alan Simpson R.I.P.

Sorry to learn that Alan Simpson, the long-standing President of Hampton & Richmond Borough FC has passed away.
http://www.hamptonfc.net/news/alan-simpson-obe-1751813.html
Those of us of a certain age will remember his writing for Hancock's Half Hour and Steptoe and Son (with Ray Galton) but, aside from all of that, he was a massive supporter of his local non-league football club.

Can anyone, please, remind me of the details for the match when we went down to H&R Borough and beat them, though they were about 2 divisions higher at the time? My vague recollection is that it was about 10 to 12 years ago, was the FA Trophy and the score was 0-1 or 1-2. I recall that Alan Simpson was very gracious after the defeat and in true gentlemanly fashion bade us all the best for the next round. After he'd shaken our hands, I remember thinking "that's the hand that wrote ..... but that's very nearly an armful" Hancock - The Blood Donor.

Fortunately just 8 years ago, not long after the Alfreton FA cup game. Goals from Liam "bambi" Barrett and Stuart Walker. This is how it was covered on the old forum:-

Thanks for the link, Springo. I know that time flies but, fortunately, not quite as fast as I thought!
